Lupita Castrejon Tijerina was born in Mexico, City. She completed her High School studies at Incarnate Word High School and pursued her undergraduate degree in Psychology from St. Mary's University. In 1996 she completed her graduated degree from Sarah Lawrence College in Child Development and returned to San Antonio.
Lupita has dedicated her profession to the local nonprofit community and is currently the Managing Director of the Junior League of San Antonio which she joined after serving as the VP of External Affairs for Family Violence Prevention Services / The Battered Women's Shelter and just before that the Interim Executive Director of the San Antonio Children's Museum. Lupita is active in her community and has served as a board member for The Bexar County Child Welfare Board, the Center for Health Care Services and is an alumnus of Leadership San Antonio - XXIX.
In 2008 she and her husband, Edmund Tijerina welcomed their son, Andrés, who is now a second grader at Keystone. Andrés was a student of the inaugural class of the Little School of Keystone. Lupita and her family live just across the street from Keystone so you will regularly see them enjoying a 90-second commute to campus. As a family they enjoy their time together to play and walk their miniature schnauzer, Comet, as well as cooking with friends. The Tijerina's are always cooking up something yummy as Edmund is the Food Editor for the San Antonio Express News. All are always welcome at a minute's notice.
