Nanotechnology,
"nano" originating from the Greek word meaning "dwarf", is technology created on the nanoscale,
one-billionth of a meter.
Nanoscale is considered from 1 and 100
nm, with anything larger being on the microscale and anything
smaller on the atomic scale.
Nanotechnology is a scientific development area that gives the
promise of "more for less".
It gives potential of creating small, inexpensive, light-weight, and
fast devices that are smarter,
require fewer raw materials, and have less energy requirements.
Indirectly, products made from nanoparticles could decrease
people's dependence on harmful cleaning agents by using nano
coatings to keep dirt off surfaces.
