Parent's Frequently Asked Questions About Technology
- How do I get my children's grades online?
Student grades can be accessed online through our parent's
online portal called NetClassroom.
There are multiple links to grades located on the Keystone website including
one on every page under Quick Links in the drop down menus. You will be required
to enter a username and password to view the grades. Parents have different login
information from students. In addition, each parent has their own login information
in order to accomodate those families with non-traditional structures. If you
have more than one child attending Keystone, you will have access to all of their
grades with this single login.
Lower School (K-4) student grades are entered at the end of each grading period
and
generally not updated throughout a semester.
New parent's will be provided with their login credentials
near the beginning of their child's first school year. Once
you have logged in the first time, it
is highly encouraged that you change your password in the Administration section
of NetClassroom to
something
that
you
can
easily remember but that others may not be able to easily guess.
- How can I view my children's courses, homework and
other activities they are doing at school?
Keystone parents and students can access courses, homework
and other items online by using Keystone's online learning management
system called Virtual
Keystone. Parents should not need to log in to view courses
unless the teacher of that course has specifically determined
it necessary to limit guest access. Students will use the login
information that they use at school to access personalized content
on Virtual
Keystone. Please note- while teachers are encouraged to post
homework, assignments and other course-related material online,
it is not a requirement and each teacher determines the best
use of the online learning management system as it pertains to
their course.
- What kind of computer should I have in order
to best allow my children to do school work at home?
Keystone currently has a Microsoft Windows-based computer
network and uses primarily the Microsoft Office Suite of applications
for word processing, spreadsheets, presentations and other standard
computer functions. The school does not endorse
any particular computer vendor or operating system for home use
but all student assignments should be prepared and saved in standard
Microsoft Office formats that can be opened on school computers.
Files saved in other file formats may not be able to be converted
to formats that will work on school computers.
Compact flash
or "thumb" drives are the recommended way to transport files
between home and school as the school cannot guarantee that an
individual will have access to private email accounts or other
off-site resources.
- Can my child bring their own laptop computer to use at school?
Yes, students may use their own laptops at school. All
personal laptop use on campus is subject to the Technical
Acceptable Use Policy. In addition, Keystone offers a campus-wide
wireless network for access to the Internet. Students wishing
more information regarding wireless Internet access on the Keystone
campus can view our wireless information
page once their school
login account has been created.
Note- All Internet access through
the Keystone computer network is filtered for appropriate content.
This includes wireless laptop connections. Mobile devices such
as cell phones, smartphones, or other devices that have Internet
connectivity through another wireless carrier (AT&T, Verizon,
Sprint, T-mobile,
etc.) that does not use the Keystone network cannot be
filtered for appropriate content by Keystone School. Therefore,
their use on campus is highly discouraged and in some cases may
be prohibited.
