10th graders pitch water conservation project

A group of Keystone 10th graders won the Mayor’s Cup in the high school division of the SA Smart Challenge at the end of last school year.

Recently, they built upon a water conservation project and presented a pitch to Mayor Ron Nirenberg, San Antonio Water System CEO Robert Puente, and representatives of SAWS and CPS Energy.

The project consists of an aerator distribution program that partners with SAWS and the Food Bank, as well as an advertisement program covering water conservation and partnerships with environmental/community organizations. The Keystone students hope to expand their project by beginning a pilot program of aerator distribution, educating young people about the importance of saving water, and partnering with organizations that share our end goal and message.

Congratulations to (from left): Rashmi, Cody, Ajay, and Annia. In the photo, they’re speaking with Mayor Nirenberg.
