6th grader repeats as Spelling Bee champ

Congratulations to sixth-grader Siyona for winning the Keystone Spelling Bee for the second year in a row.

She won in the 24th round, correctly spelling “Bunsen burner.” Other words in this year’s competition included “inscrutable,” “voracious,” and “flummox.”

Siona will defend her regional title on March 2 at UTSA.

Congratulations also to runner-up Alisha, and third-place finisher Bobby. Both are in fourth grade.

Last year, Siyona won the regional Bee and went to the National Bee near Washington, D.C. on Memorial Day weekend. There, she cleared preliminaries and quarters, qualified for semi finals, and ultimately tied for 22nd place among 231 kids.
