College Counseling

Keystone’s College Counseling Program is designed to prepare students to identify, apply, and matriculate at a college or university that is a good fit for their educational journey.

The College Counselor is available to help students and families sort through the college search process by providing resources, advice, and support over their Upper School years.

As an institution that deeply values learning, it is our hope that students will learn more about themselves through regular counselor meetings and intentional programming, and be better prepared to make a college decision in their senior year. We advocate for our students to the fullest extent, while also preparing them for the unpredictable nature of college admissions.

Our multi-faceted program includes:

  • Naviance – web-based application tracking system and college counseling portal for students and the Office of College  Counseling. Students can log in here.
  • Intensive Individual Counseling – formal meetings starting in the sophomore year, one-on-one advising available to all Upper School students
  • Recommendation Letters – carefully researched, and highly personalized counselor letter for each senior; meaningful letters from  teachers who really get to know our students and are honored to write for them
  • College Lunch Series – college counseling workshops conducted throughout the year addressing topics relevant to each grade level (9th – 12th)

  • Visits from College Admissions Representatives — Reps from 80+ colleges from across the country and world visit Keystone’s campus each year to meet with our students; often these are the same reps who will be reading our students’ applications.
  • Special Programs/Events – parent coffees, financial aid seminar, young alumni panel discussions, practice SAT/ACT sessions, mock  interviews, College Night for Juniors, Private Schools of San Antonio College Fair, and more
  • Extensive College Counseling Library — wide variety of resources and books available for check-out covering all aspects of the college search and application process, test prep, financial aid, scholarships, and summer opportunities

For College Reps

Keystone is happy to welcome college admission representatives virtually and in-person to meet with our students.
Appointments can be scheduled through RepVisits or contacting Keystone College Counselor Sara Christiansen (schristiansen@keystoneschool.org). If scheduling a virtual visit, please provide the direct URL for the meeting (not a registration link).
