Eighth-grader earns spot in All-Region Band

Congratulations to eighth grader Joanna for winning a spot in the San Antonio area’s All-Region Band, and on her recent performance.

To earn a position in the Region 29 band, students had to prepare two etudes (studies) and memorize eight different scales, and then participate in a blind audition, where judges sat behind a screen so they could judge solely on musical merit. She performed the flute.

The All-Region concert took place Jan. 11 at Holmes High School in the Northside school district.
