Eighth grader named finalist in Pulitzer Center writing contest

Congratulations to eighth-grader Cody, who was named a finalist in the Pulitzer Center’s 2020 Local Letters for Global Change contest.

His letter was selected from more than 800 entries from around the world, and it was just published on the the Pulitzer Center website.

Here’s the page of winners that includes Cody’s letter: https://pulitzercenter.org/blog/winners-and-finalists-local-letters-global-change-2020

The contest invited students in grades K-12 to choose a news story on the Pulitzer Center website and use it as a prompt to write a letter to a local elected representative that explains a global issue the writer wishes to prioritize.

The Pulitzer Center, based in Washington, D.C. and not affiliated with the Pulitzer Prizes at Columbia University, supports reporting of global issues and offers a variety of educational and public outreach programs.
