Middle School Science Teacher

We are searching for a capable and dedicated 7th & 8th Grade Science Teacher to join our excellent faculty. The Science Teacher’s responsibilities include developing engaging lesson plans and curricula, collaborating with other teachers, assessing student work thoroughly and promptly, and addressing any performance issues. You should be able to teach students from varied cultural backgrounds and handle sensitive lessons.

Science Teacher Responsibilities:

  • Teaches 7th and 8th grade science (2 sections of each). Designing, developing, and delivering exceptional lesson plans and curricula that adhere to national and school guidelines. Curricula should follow NGSS standards.
  • Has familiarity with different types of teaching methods, including problem-based and inquiry-based learning, and differentiates instruction to challenge and support students.
  • Uses authentic assessment practices to inform and guide instruction, and provides regular feedback to students.
  • Sets up lab demonstrations and assisting and supervising students while they conduct experiments.
  • Provides extra resources, support, and interventions for students who are struggling.
  • Shows dedication to social, emotional and character development of each child.
  • Creating an environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and voicing concerns.
  • Communicates effectively with parents and establishes a team approach with the child’s family.
  • Works well in a team; displays a positive attitude and eagerness to work collaboratively with colleagues in developing curriculum, planning for instruction, and partnering for grade-level and divisional events.
  • Grades papers, updating records, and handling various administrative tasks.
  • Participates in other school activities, which may include being an advisor, covering study hall, supporting students in Science Fair, and/or sponsoring a club.

Science Teacher Requirements:

  • Degree in Science or a related discipline.
  • A completed apprenticeship or teaching experience.
  • The ability to answer sensitive questions and create an environment where everyone’s opinions are respected.
  • A passion for science and a commitment to continuing education.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of current classroom technologies such as interactive whiteboard software, LMS software, Microsoft Office 365, Google Apps for Education, etc.
  • Proficiency in managing both Apple (iPad and laptops) and PC devices.
