Fifth-graders take on Everyman and roller coaster projects
The fifth-graders demonstrated a pair of year-ending projects last week In the Everyman project, they chose a nameless and typical figure from a specific time period and delivered a monologue from the perspective of that character. The figures included a Roman centurion, an early 20th-century suffragette, and an ancient Egyptian princess, to name a few.
Meanwhile, the students also showed their roller coaster designs. In this one, they had to create a ride that they would pitch to Disney for an amusement park attraction. This involved creating a story and then doing the math and science necessary to understand some of the physical forces of the ride.
The young people worked for a long time on their undertakings, and presented some impressive work.
