Gowri Iyengar ’19 is member of award-winning Indian dance team

Gowri Iyengar ’19 (second from left) was part of a Rice University team that placed third in an Indian dance competition at the University of Pittsburgh.

Congratulations to Gowri Iyengar ’19. She’s a member of an Indian dance team that earned 3rd place at the Dhirana dance competition at the University of Pittsburgh.

Dhirana is an intercollegiate Indian classical dance competition hosted by students of the University of Pittsburgh.

Each year, the competition features eight collegiate teams from across the country who portray stories through different styles of dance. Judges evaluate the teams on nritta – intricate footwork, mudras– hand gestures, abhinaya – facial expressions, and other aspects of the dance.
