Keystone volleyball wins state championship

Congratulations to the varsity volleyball Cobras on winning Keystone’s first state championship since 1999!

They defeated Denton Calvary Academy, 3-0 (25-22, 25-20, 25-19) in the championship match on Friday just outside of Waco.

“Having only six players forged an unbreakable bond among us. Each one of them showed extraordinary heart, resilience, and determination,” said Head Volleyball Coach Calderon. “Winning the state championship with this incredible team is a testament to their unwavering spirit and a reminder that numbers don’t define us – it’s the strength of our unity and the fire in our hearts that truly matters.”

Four Keystone players were named to the All-Tournament Team:

  • Sidney – senior
  • Abby – senior
  • Alysa – senior
  • Marlee – junior

In the semifinal match on Thursday, the Cobras defeated Rosehill Christian of Tomball in straight sets. This victory was especially sweet, coming against the team that ousted Keystone in two previous years.

Last week, they dispatched the defending state champions, Round Rock Christian Academy, 3-0, in a match in San Marcos. Before that, they defeated St. Francis Episcopal of Houston also in straight sets.

“We’re very proud of the team and all that this group has accomplished,” said Head of Scool Mr. Handmaker. “We are equally proud of them as exceptional students and young women of strong character and tremendous potential.”

What an amazing season!
