Lower School students launch Random Acts of Kindness Month
At the Lower School, students want to make February the kindest month and are trying to bring lessons out of the classroom, throughout the school, and beyond.
This is Random Acts of Kindness Month and the students in kindergarten through fourth grade all got together to kick off the month with a special morning and continue the kindness throughout the month.
They gathered in small groups that mixed students in each grade and kicked off the month by reading “Little Spot of Kindness,” and then members of Fourth Grade Leadership organized group activities.
For example, one group had a discussion where the students squeezed a tube of toothpaste and then the leader asked for people to put the toothpaste back into the tube — and explained that’s just like hurtful words that can’t be taken back.
Another group taped uplifting messages on Middle School lockers. Each classroom has a calendar listing a kind activity per day throughout the month.
Maybe this could set the tone for an amazing month.
