Senior creates project to celebrate diverse children’s books

Don’t be surprised to see Upper Schoolers looking at picture books for younger readers on the second floor of the Library.

These students are helping the Windows & Mirrors Project that senior Ava launched last year. She focused a class project on the effects of diverse literature, especially in children’s and young adult books.

For this endeavor, older students receive a passport in which they can record which children’s books they read.

As Ava describes it, these books “provide a window into someone else’s world and a mirror to see yourself in what you read.”

Scroll down for some photos of 9th graders reading on their own and in groups.

Great job, Ava!
