Thanks for a great school year and we’ll see you in August!

“Summer afternoon-summer afternoon; to me those have always been the two most beautiful words in the English language.”
-William James

This week’s Keystone Communiqué marks the final issue of the 2022-2023 school year, and what a year it has been. In so many ways, our students have excelled in the classroom, in the studio, on stage, and on the courts and fields of play. We should all be proud of them and congratulate them on their accomplishments. They have done outstanding work, and they deserve our applause.

Our Cobras have done so well in part thanks to the amazing Keystone faculty and staff. They have challenged and supported students in their academic and extracurricular growth and personal development, and we owe them our gratitude. Thank you!

Thank you also to our parents for sharing your wonderful children with us. They make our days delightful and meaningful, and we appreciate you allowing us to work with them. We are truly fortunate to have inspiring students and supportive families.

Thanks also go to the visionary and supportive Keystone Board of Trustees for its leadership and devotion to the school.

In the midst of our celebration, we should also bear in mind that one of our families is in mourning, and our hearts go out to Siri’s parents, sister, and relatives.

We know that students don’t stop growing and developing over the summer. As a matter of fact, one of the joys in starting a new school year is witnessing how much children and young adults change over the summer. They return to school in August more mature than when they left in May, and it can be shocking to see how different students look after a few months in the summer sun.

Like our students, those of us working at school will learn and develop over the summer. We will analyze your responses to our parent survey and look for ways to make Keystone an even better school. As with any new year, you can expect changes when we return.

For now, though, let’s enjoy the beginning of summer, and revel in those long and glorious days.

On a personal note, I want to thank you for all the support you have provided my wife and me during her battle with cancer. We hope that by the time school begins in August, she will have finished chemotherapy and will be on the road to recovery. Your kind words and extremely generous gestures have made her struggle bearable and we are deeply grateful.
