Vivian Whitney ’17 wins Fulbright to study gastronomy in Italy

Congratulations to Vivian Whitney ’17 on winning a Fulbright fellowship to study gastronomy in Italy.

She’s a senior at Syracuse University and received a grant to attend the University of Gastronomic Science in Pollenzo, Italy to earn a MA in Gastronomy. That’s in the Piedmont region of Northern Italy.

The program is called Master of Gastronomy: World Food Cultures and Mobility, is 10 months long, and includes classes, tastings, cooking, hands-on food learning, and 3 study trips. After she receives her degree, she begins a post-grad program that includes an internship in Italy or somewhere else in Europe, where she will finish a master’s thesis.

She already knows some Italian from living in Florence last year, and is working on improving her facility with the language before she leaves and while she’s over there.

Buon viaggio, Vivian!
